JUNG Switches in Singapore: LS 990, LS ZERO, A 500 and CD 500 Range Guide
JUNG is a German manufacturer of electrical switches, sockets and smart home systems founded in 1912, headquartered in Schalksmuhle, North Rhine-Westphalia. The company makes its switch ranges in Germany and sells them through authorised partners in over 90 countries, including Singapore. MCSG is an authorised supplier and installer of JUNG switches for residential and commercial projects across the island.
If you are renovating, fitting out a new condominium, or replacing worn-out light switches in an HDB flat, you have probably come across JUNG while looking at premium German switchgear. This guide walks through the ranges available in Singapore, how they compare, what they cost, and how the smart home options work.
Which JUNG range should you pick?
JUNG organises its switches into three main families: LS (classic design), A (modern, architectural), and CD (compact, cost-efficient). Within each family there are several lines. The table below gives you the short version before we go deeper.
| Range | Design style | Best for | Price tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| LS 990 | Heritage stainless steel, slim frame | Premium condos, landed homes | High |
| LS ZERO | Completely flush, no visible frame | Minimalist, contemporary interiors | High |
| LS CUBE / LS PLUS | Square, matte finish, wide colour palette | Family homes, HDB resale | Mid |
| A 500 / A 550 | Large-format, architectural | Offices, retail, hospitality | High |
| CD 500 | Compact, modular | Strata units, budget-conscious upgrades | Mid-low |
| CD PLUS | CD with JUNG HOME smart capability | Smart-ready HDB / condo | Mid |
LS range: the classic JUNG family
The LS range is what most people picture when they think of a JUNG switch. It has been in continuous development since the 1960s and is the range most commonly specified by interior designers in Singapore.
LS 990
The LS 990 line uses a brushed stainless steel frame with a slim 8 mm profile. It is the range you see in most high-end showflats along Orchard, Sentosa Cove and the prime districts. The switch mechanism itself is made from impact-resistant thermoplastic and rated for 60,000 actuations, which is roughly double the lifecycle of a standard residential switch.
LS 990 is available in pure white, aluminium, stainless steel, and the Les Couleurs Le Corbusier palette of 63 architectural colours. MCSG stocks the most common finishes (pure white, black, stainless steel) and can order custom colours on a 3 to 4 week lead time.
LS ZERO
LS ZERO is JUNG's completely flush-mounted system. There is no visible frame around the switch plate. The plate sits flush with the wall surface, creating a seamless silhouette that works especially well with painted or microcement walls. It requires a deeper wall box (minimum 45 mm depth) and is typically installed during renovation rather than retrofitted into an existing HDB wall.
LS CUBE, LS PLUS and LS DESIGN
These are the more accessible LS lines. LS CUBE has a square, matte finish in white, black and anthracite. LS PLUS adds a wider range of materials including glass and wood veneer. LS DESIGN is the architect-designed line with partner collaborations. These ranges hit the sweet spot between JUNG build quality and a more approachable price point for HDB resale flats and mass-market condominiums.
A range: for architectural projects
The A range uses a larger 55 x 55 mm plate format compared to the standard 50 x 50 mm European size. A 500 is the original line with screw terminals; A 550 has improved clip-on mounting. A creation is the customisable version where architects can specify materials, engraving and backlighting.
In Singapore, the A range is most often found in office fit-outs, hotel rooms and retail boutiques rather than private homes. If you are running a commercial reinstatement or office fit-out and need a consistent spec across 50-plus rooms, the A range's modularity makes maintenance and replacement straightforward.
CD range: compact and smart-ready
The CD range is JUNG's compact line, designed for price-sensitive projects without giving up the German switch mechanism. CD 500 is the standard series in white, silver and black. It uses the same internal switching technology as the LS range but in a smaller, simpler plate.
CD PLUS is the smart home version. It integrates directly with JUNG HOME, JUNG's wireless smart home system, so you can upgrade a basic switch to a dimming or scene-control switch without running new wires back to a distribution board. For HDB owners who want smart lighting without knocking up walls, CD PLUS with JUNG HOME is the most practical entry point.
Smart home systems: KNX, JUNG HOME and eNet
JUNG offers three smart home protocols, and which one you need depends on how much wiring you are willing to do.
| System | Wiring | Best for | DIY friendly |
|---|---|---|---|
| KNX | Bus cable (YP/Li 2x2x0.8) run back to a KNX switch | Full-home automation, high-end landed properties | No, requires certified KNX integrator |
| JUNG HOME | Wireless, no bus cable | HDB / condo retrofits, smart lighting scenes | Yes, installable by an electrician |
| eNet | Wireless, radio-based | Single-room upgrades, shade control | Yes |
KNX is the premium standard. It is a universal bus system that works across brands, and JUNG is one of the founding members of the KNX Association. If you are building a landed home or a full smart condo, KNX is the system that property tech consultants typically specify. It requires a KNX-certified integrator to program and commission.
JUNG HOME is the newer wireless system launched in 2023. It uses a local radio protocol and does not require a hub in the cloud. You pair switches and dimmers through the JUNG HOME app, set up lighting scenes, and control them from the switch, the app, or voice assistants. For Singaporean HDB owners who cannot run bus cables in a rented or resale flat, this is the most practical way to get smart lighting.
eNet is JUNG's older wireless radio system, mostly used for blind and shade control. It is being phased out in favour of JUNG HOME for new projects.
What do JUNG switches cost in Singapore?
JUNG switches are sold through authorised electrical distributors and interior designers in Singapore. The price you pay depends on the range, the finish, and whether you are buying just the switch plate or the complete mechanism including dimming and smart functions.
| Item | Typical range (S$) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard 1-gang switch, LS CUBE | 18 - 35 | Plate + mechanism |
| 1-gang switch, LS 990 stainless | 45 - 80 | Brushed steel finish |
| USB-C charging socket | 80 - 140 | Combined with power socket |
| LED dimmer, JUNG HOME ready | 120 - 220 | Wireless dimming |
| LS ZERO flush plate (per gang) | 60 - 110 | Requires deep wall box |
| Full home, 4-room HDB (30 points) | 3,500 - 7,000 | Parts + labour, LS CUBE / CD PLUS |
| Full condo, 3-bed (60 points) | 8,000 - 16,000 | Parts + labour, LS 990 + smart |
These are ballpark figures based on MCSG's supply and install pricing as of October 2026. Actual quotes depend on the number of switch points, whether you are using dimmers or normal switches, and how much hacking and rewiring the existing wall requires. Installation: what to expect in Singapore
JUNG switches use European 50 x 50 mm and 55 x 55 mm plate sizes, which are compatible with standard Singapore wall boxes. If you are replacing existing switches (a like-for-like swap), your electrician can usually fit JUNG plates into the existing back boxes without hacking the wall.
If you are adding new switch points, moving switches, or installing dimmers, the work involves cutting into the wall, running new conduit, and plastering over. This falls under electrical work that must be done by a Licensed Electrician Worker (LEW) registered with SP Group. MCSG coordinates the LEW, the supply of the JUNG gear, and the reinstatement of any wall holes after installation.
Why interior designers specify JUNG
After 110 years of manufacturing switches, JUNG has earned its reputation on three things: the feel of the mechanism (the tactile click is consistent across all ranges), the finish quality (stainless steel and Le Corbusier colours do not fade or yellow), and the longevity (a JUNG switch will typically outlast the renovation it was installed in). For an interior designer specifying a 5-year warranty on a showflat, that reliability matters.
It is also worth knowing that JUNG is a founding member of the KNX Association, the global smart home standard. If you later decide to add lighting scenes, temperature control or blind automation, the same JUNG switches can be upgraded to KNX or JUNG HOME without replacing the plates you already installed.
Frequently asked questions
Are JUNG switches worth the price in Singapore?
If you plan to stay in your home for five years or more, yes. A JUNG switch costs roughly three to five times a standard local brand switch, but the mechanism is rated for 60,000 actuations versus 20,000 for a typical residential switch. That means it will not develop a loose or intermittent contact within your ownership period. For rental properties or short-stay units where the finish gets heavy use, the long-term value is even clearer.
Can JUNG switches be retrofitted into an HDB flat?
Yes, for standard on-off switches. The plate size fits existing Singapore wall boxes. If you want dimmers or smart functions, you may need to run additional wires, which requires a small hacking job and a LEW. JUNG HOME wireless switches are the exception: they snap onto the existing wall box and pair over radio, so there is no need to rewire.
What is the difference between JUNG LS 990 and LS ZERO?
LS 990 has a visible stainless steel frame around the switch plate. LS ZERO is completely flush, with no frame visible at all. LS ZERO requires a deeper wall box (45 mm minimum) and is usually installed during a renovation rather than a like-for-like replacement. LS 990 fits into a standard wall box and can be retrofitted.
Does MCSG supply and install JUNG switches in Singapore?
Yes. MCSG is an authorised JUNG supplier. We supply the full LS, A and CD ranges, provide LEW-coordinated installation, and handle wall patching and painting as part of the same job. You can see the full range and request a quote on the JUNG switches product page, or message us directly on WhatsApp.
How long does delivery take for custom JUNG colours?
Standard finishes (white, black, stainless steel) are available off the shelf in Singapore and can be installed within 1 to 2 weeks. Les Couleurs Le Corbusier custom colours and special materials (glass, wood veneer) are made to order in Germany and typically take 3 to 4 weeks.
Can JUNG switches work with Google Home or Alexa?
JUNG HOME integrates with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant through the JUNG HOME app. KNX installations can be connected to most voice assistants through a KNX gateway. The basic CD and LS ranges without smart modules do not have voice control on their own.
